Coach Dave Rhyde entered the first round of sectional play Thursday wearing a time from Colgate football assistant coach Casey Vogt and his wife Amber. To date, Rhyde’s willingness to wear any tie has raised $1,172 for Coaches v. Cancer. With Rhyde is is son Nick, who played basketball for Hamilton and who was dianosed with cancer.

Tie Watch Enters 2009

Coach Dave Rhyde was resplendent in a tie covered with Disney characters (donated by Dr. Ray & Ellen Meeks) when his Emerald Knights downed Sherburne-Earlville at home last night.

It is easy to see he enjoys the outstanding support the community is showing for the unique fundraising project created by Dr. Dave Haswell. Rhyde said he received a $50 contribution from a patient of Haswell’s who had read about it and was pleased that her doctor was involved.

As of today, there are nine ties in the TBW (To Be Worn) que. Rhyde said he knows one is a bow tie and one is a boy’s clip-on that may be a bit small. It takes a man confident in his own style to laugh in the face of a clip-on and forge ahead. Next stop: GQ!

Disney characters adorned the cravat Coach Rhyde as the Emerald Knights beat Sherburne-Earville Saturday night. It was contributed by Dr. Ray and Ellen Meeks.

The tie that laucnhed it all, the Dr. Seuss tie donated by Dr. David and Lori Haswell, and worn by Coach Rhyde during the Rome Catholic game.
